Pacoche Park, Ecuador
October 20, 2014 — Pacoche Park sits nestled in a beautiful rain forest, and it is home to Howler Monkey’s! If the monkeys decide not show themselves, they will definitely make their presence known. Their howls are quite loud and quite eerie — made my skin crawl. All by ourselves, in nothing short of a jungle setting, I got freaked out. Hello Jarassic Park?
This park is right on the Ruta Del Sol highway going toward Puerto Lopez, and is super easy to get to and from by bus. The walk is not bad either, but boots or shoes that are good for walking in mud, are necessary. While it was raining in Pacoche, it was sunny in Manta. Pacoche took about 40 minutes by bus from Manta and cost $1.00. Let the bus driver know that you want to be let out at Pacoche.
A guide is not needed for about half of the traiI. But for the second half, they want everyone to go with a guide–if there is one available. It’s $10.00 for 5 people with the guide.
