  2. 1 lb lump sugar
  3. 1/2 pint white vinegar
  4. 1 cinnamon stick

  1. Cut the fruit in halves and remove the stones. Put in pan with the sugar, heat gently, and stir till the sugar has melted. Then boil slowly, add the vinegar and spices, and boil for 5 minutes more. Remove the fruit from the pan and drain in a colander. Continue to boil the liquid till it becomes syrupy. When the fruit has drained, pack it closely in jars and pour over it the boiling syrup. Cover closely.
