  2. 1/2 lb sugar to 1 lb fruit
  3. 1 lemon
  1. Pick over fruit, lay on a large dish, cover with sugar, squeeze the juice of one lemon over the sugar, and leave all night. Pour the juice, fruit and sugar into pan, stir over gentle heat till sugar is dissolved, then boil for 3/4 hour. Pour into warm jars and cover.
