Ingredients
  1. 1/2 pint vinegar
  2. 1/2 pint water
  3. 8 anchovies
  4. 3 shallots
  5. pepper
  6. 1 tablespoonful lemon juice
  7. 1/2 oz cloves
Instructions
  1. Chop the anchovies quite small; put in pan with water and vinegar, add all the other ingredients, bring to the boil, then simmer till thickened. Strain and bottle when cool.
